INTERACTIVE MATHEMATICS TOOL

Graphing Calculator

Plot mathematical functions such as y = x², y = sin(x), and y = 2x + 1 on an interactive coordinate plane. Add expressions, zoom or pan to explore the graph, and download a PNG image for study notes or classroom work.

Interactive graph

● Live graph · radians for trig functions
x: −10 to 10 · y: −10 to 10 Drag to pan · Wheel to zoom

The graphing engine supports common single-variable functions y = f(x). It is not a symbolic algebra system and does not currently plot implicit equations, inequalities, or parametric curves.

HOW TO USE IT

How to create a graph step by step

1. Enter a function

Use the expression field to type a rule connecting x and y. For a quadratic function, enter y = x^2 . The caret symbol ^ means “to the power of”.

2. Compare functions

Choose the plus button to add another expression. Each curve is assigned its own color, making it easier to compare a line, parabola, or trigonometric curve.

3. Navigate the plane

Drag the graph to pan. Use the mouse wheel or plus/minus controls to zoom. Reset view returns the visible range to approximately −10 through 10 on both axes.

4. Export the graph

Click Download PNG to save the current graph image. If the curve appears clipped, adjust the zoom and pan until the important region is visible before exporting.

Worked examples

Quadratic: y = x²

y = x²
  1. Choose x = −2.
  2. Substitute: y = (−2)².
  3. Calculate: y = 4, so the point (−2, 4) is on the curve.
  4. Plot the function to see a U-shaped parabola with vertex (0, 0).

Linear: y = 2x + 1

y = 2x + 1
  1. Choose x = 2.
  2. Substitute: y = 2(2) + 1.
  3. Calculate: y = 5, so (2, 5) is on the line.
  4. The coefficient 2 is the slope; the constant 1 is the y-intercept.

Supported mathematical functions

Power x^3 Exponentiation using ^.
Square root sqrt(x) Defined for non-negative x.
Trigonometry sin(x), cos(x), tan(x) Angles use radians.
Logarithms log(x), ln(x) Check the valid domain.
Absolute value abs(x) Distance from zero.
Exponential exp(x) Equivalent to e^x.

How to create a mathematical graph

Enter a function such as y = x^2 in the expression field. Use the custom math keys to insert symbols, add more functions to compare curves, drag to pan, zoom to inspect the coordinate plane, and download the graph as a PNG.

Why Use a Graphing Calculator?

A graphing calculator helps turn symbolic expressions into visual patterns that are easier to compare and discuss. Use Graphly Math to see how changing a coefficient, exponent, or function changes a curve, and to inspect where graphs rise, fall, or cross the axes. The ability to plot several expressions in one place supports algebra lessons, homework checking, and self-guided practice. Zooming and panning let you examine both the overall shape and smaller regions of a graph, while PNG export makes it convenient to keep a visual record for notes or assignments. Always check the entered expression and viewing range when interpreting a graph.
